As I repeatedly say Broadoaks Country House Hotel is a FAB place to book as your Lake District Wedding Venue, the staff are great, the service is great, it has multiple opportunities for places to host your Wedding both inside & out, and the grounds are superb for your Wedding Photography too; however, there is one further opportunity for photos that many will miss – and this is that you’re only a 5 mins drive from lake Windermere itself and a short walk to some Lake District AWESOMENESS for your photos !!!
During most Weddings there is a lull time, a period where nothing much is happening. It can be AFTER your Wedding Ceremony but BEFORE your Wedding Breakfast, or Afternoon Tea at Broadoaks as a more casual variation thereof; but it is most commonly AFTER your meal & speeches and BEFORE your evening kicks off as Broadoaks’ staff beaver away changing the room around for your night-do
For those who are marrying in the summer months where sunset is past 8:00p.m. (and who don’t get blind drunk by then!!!) there is a further opportunity for photo-greatness AFTER 1st Dance
So what exactly am I suggesting then???
A trip out of Broadoaks and down to lake Windermere stopping by a small parking area with a short walk down to the lakeside and jetties aplenty
What follows are some recent photos taken in June 2016, from Hannah & Paul’s Broadoaks’ Wedding, and all between 9:04 p.m. & 9:36 p.m. – so an actual shooting period of just 32 mins
You’ll see them in the order taken, with a variety of shooting and processing styles, including the use of what’s called Off Camera Flash to light the couple against the darkening & increasingly dramatic backdrop; and yes, a couple of fun ones too that the couple wanted for Facebook profiles lol
The final section here is what it looks like in daytime so you can see the area I’m suggesting and the opportunities it affords for both a daytime series, as well as the sunset one as here…
Millerground – ideal for Windermere Wedding Photography
Here we’re starting off with some photos in the trees and alongside the stream as its a few minutes before sunset as yet
Although the Sun is getting lower, its still not quite set at this point, so no additional lighting is required
Finally, as the Sun starts to dip below the horizon I can pull out the flashguns to add light onto the couple against the glorious sunset backdrop
Once the main couple photos are shot, its time for a little individual Princess & Hero shooting
And once we’re “done” on the formal side, you (as here) can mess about a bit if you like – these next two went straight to Facebook!
And this is what the area looks like during the day. So even if you can’t afford the time for a nip down for a sunset, especially during winter where it may coincide with your Ceremony or Wedding Breakfast, then its still a great place to pop down to for some special photos
A minor word of warning !!!
If you do make time to nip out from Broadoaks (in my car for ease) then you will LOVE this shoot time so much we will really need to keep an eye on the time; I could easily spend a couple of hours shooting you in various styles & locations here, but we have to remember its NOT just a FAB photoshoot but your Wedding !!! So we need to shoot as much as possible as quickly as possible to get you back to your guests. Although the shoot time here was almost exactly 20 minutes, its a 5 mins walk to the lake & back and there’s some setting up time too, so we really need 40mins or so to really make this work for you
Oh, and the walk to the lake is NOT suitable for high heels – so please ensure you have a change of footwear – it is a metaled path, but bumpy in places and in wetter times wellies may be best too
If you love my style of romantic & dramatic Wedding Photography, then you’ll love me as your Broadoaks Wedding Photographer too – so please CONTACT ME to see if I’m available for your date
